Mom Hacks to Make Life Easier

Let’s face it, we only have 24 hours in a day, we have a lot to get done, and unfortunately sleep at some point, is essential for survival. So I’m going to get right to it. Here are some mom hacks that will make your life a heck of a lot easier.

Walmart Grocery Pickup

This right here is a life saver. If you haven’t tried grocery pick up, your life is about to change! I started using Walmart’s curbside pickup service around a year and a half ago and have never looked back. Use the app to fill up your cart, know the price ahead of time so you can budget, schedule a time for pickup at the desired location and pull into a parking spot. Bam, that’s it! A friendly associate loads your groceries for you and you never even have to unbuckle the kiddos from their carseats. Your on your way home and there’s no chasing little people down the aisle, or climbing out of moving carts. Here is a coupon for $10 off your first order http://r.wmt.co/v/shayna_59

Chewy.com

Got animals in the household? Another great time saver is Chewy.com. They have a plethora of brands and pet supplies for whatever your furry friends need. I love this company because of the insanely fast shipping. Say you’re like me, and you need dog food delivered, you can set a schedule for every 2, 3, 4 weeks and have it delivered without having to worry about running out. If you feel that you need it delivered sooner, you can login and alter the schedule as necessary. Also, if you try out their autoship you get 30% off your first shipment, which is a pretty awesome deal.

Yeti for Coffee

Pour your coffee in the morning and keep it steamy hot through the day. Because goodness knows, when there are little people running the household, there’s no time for sitting down and drinking a full cup of coffee in one sitting.

Crock Pot

The slow cooker is your friend! Throw some chicken (or whatever meat or veggies you prefer) and seasoning in, put it on low and slow, set the timer and let it be. Whala, no more scrambling at dinner time thinking about what is for dinner. I’ve recently tried to make it a habit to cook a couple pounds of chicken or roast with basic seasoning at the beginning of the week so I can just throw it into different recipes for the next few days. So far, this has been a HUGE time saver for me.

Backpack for Outings

If you’re on an outing with kids, having your hands free is a blessing. Using a backpack gives you the convenience of packing what you need while still being able to manage the kids. And if you’re like me, with two little ones, attempting to run in different directions, you will certainly need both hands free.

Lunchbox Play Kits

These are super helpful when you need to occupy the kids. Say you’re at a restaurant and you want to actually be able to eat your food. Use a basic lunch box (you can inexpensive ones on Amazon or a local dollar store) and fill it up with playdoh, dinosaurs, crayons, stickers, ect…  it keeps them occupied enough so you can at least enjoy the well deserved margherita and chips and salsa (can you tell where my head currently is lol!)

Lists, Lists and More Lists

Write it all down so you don’t forget. Let my mistakes be a lesson, if you’re not utilizing a planner or google calendar, it can get stressful. Make your life easier and start writing lists for everything.

Baby Wipes Everywhere

I use these bad boys for EVERYTHING! I have them all over the house and use them for everything form; wiping down spills on the counters, wiping paint or marker from my boys hands, wiping up spills in the car and the obvious of changing diapers. They’re cheap, useful and easy to store.

Bins Everywhere

If your house is like mine and your kids walk around the house with a trail of toys behind them, go ahead and fill the house up with bins. You can keep them pretty and decorative if it’s in a main living area and colorful and playful if in a bedroom or toy room. I keep pretty baskets stored under my living room table and throw toys in there in a pinch and then have plastic bins in my boys rooms so they can easily clean up themselves. Taking Pics of the Kiddos

If getting your kids to hold still while taking photos is a struggle, then try this method. I flip my phone to selfie mode, and let the boys see themselves on the screen. They get a kick out of it and suddenly they’re posing adorably for the camera. Blurry photo problem solved.

10 Minute Workout

Don’t cheat yourself. You have to take care of yourself so that you don’t get MOM EXHAUSTION and have the energy to take care of your family. Staying physical is a great way to keep your energy up so you can keep up with kids and life in general. Put aside 10 minutes a day to workout. There’s tons of simple at home workouts available on Pinterest that can easily be done with kids around.

10 Minute Beauty Routine

You know the scene in Cinderella when the fairy godmother transforms her from rags into a beautiful glowing human? That’s somewhat of how I feel after a shower lol. Give yourself the treat of ten minutes to shower, shave, and throw on some bronzer and mascara. I know for me this makes a huge difference in the vibe of my day.

End the Evening With a Clean Slate

Clean up at the end of the night so you have a fresh start in the morning (see simple ways to get your toddler to clean up). It feels good to wake up and not start your day with stepping on a lego. Even if you know there’s a huge possibility it may be covered in toys by 9am, it still sets you up you for a good, good day!

I hope these mom hacks will make your life a little easier and give you more time to spend with your family. Feel free to leave a comment below if you have suggestions on other ways to maneuver through mamahood.

  1. These actually transfer over to college life pretty accurately too! I’m remembering using about half of these hacks, especially the Yeti cooler for coffee and Walmart delivery!

  2. Is it terrible to say that my kids are teenagers and I still need this list? LOL. I couldn’t live without so many of these things, especially deliveries and coffee in my Yeti!
