Work From Home Options For Moms
You’re interested in working from home? You’ve come to the right place. I’m going to share some legitimate work from home options for moms. Like so many others, I could tell you to do random sketchy “programs” or participate in surveys. But I’ll be honest, I’ve tried those surveys, and I would have to be on the computer for hours on end to manage to make enough to cover the expense of just one Starbucks coffee.
Now, money is money, but is it worth taking precious hours of attention away from my kids for a miniscule amount? Hell no! I’ve lasted maybe an hour and earned 15 cents before wanting to toss my phone out the window! It’s a waste of time. I love the idea of contributing to my family and having something to call my own, but if I’m going to do something, and it takes time away from my children, it sure as heck better be worth it.
So, I’m going to share some legitimate ways to make money from home and not bologna scams that take your time. I have researched and the earning potentials of these options have the possibility to be massive. So grab a cup of joe and a notebook and let’s get going.

In this day and age it’s hard to escape the blogging culture. For instance, here you are, reading my blog (thanks for being here!). There’s no denying the fact that blogs play an integral role in our digital lives. They are chock full of valuable information coming from all parts of the globe. So how do blogs really make money and what are the earning potentials?
As of today there are 500 million blogs in the world. So something must be intriguing enough to generate that much interest. From what I have researched, the earning potential for blogging can range anywhere from $500 a month, all the way up to six figures per month!!
There are a lot of factors that play into this and skills that need to be honed, but the sky truly is the limit. The ways to monetize a blog can include, affiliate marketing, advertising, selling Ebooks and courses, selling digital products or securing sponsorships. There are a multitude of ways to generate traffic and opportunities to scale your business. Patience is key. While sometimes it can take time to get the income ball rolling, the wait may be more than worth it. Developing a niche and focusing on what you are passionate about, is a great way to start. So if writing is your jam, this may be the perfect at home opportunity.
Selling on Ebay
Got stuff to sell? Or enjoy finding a great thrift store diamond in the rough? This may be the perfect fit for you! Ebay is a huge platform with millions of users who are looking to buy your stuff. Generally eclectic and electronic items (say that ten times fast!) have a good sell rate. However, you just never know what people are going to be looking for.
Combing through garage sales or thrift stores to find in demand items, are a fantastic way to flip a product and make a profit. Even if you just want to start off with, selling some stuff you have lying around the house, that you no longer use, to get your feet wet. This way you can see if this is something you enjoy.
While it’s not a set in stone number, it’s estimated that there are 2 billion (yes BILLION) daily transactions on Ebay. It’s definitely worth throwing in your hat to get a piece of that pie. While this is definitely a, you get out of it, what you put in, kind of business, the income opportunity can be unlimited.
Selling on Amazon
This is the big dog in town when it comes to e-commerce. Did you know that there are over 2 million small business owners on Amazon! That’s a big number and it grows each and every day. While this option does have some upfront investment costs, there are ways to start small. Retail arbitrage, (reselling new in demand products for a premium price) is one way to dip your toes in the Amazon river. Other options include selling generic items bought straight from manufacturing companies, or creating your own product with a private label.Private labeling is the front runner when it comes to income potential but the other options have the possibility of growth as well.
Another really cool aspect about this is you don’t even have to necessarily touch or store the products. If doing private labeling , you have the option to send your products from the manufacturer directly to the Amazon warehouse and have them take care of the shipping for you. Make no mistakes about it, this does come at a cost, but for the convenience of it, I definitely think it is worth it.
This is not a completely passive income opportunity and the competition can be fierce BUT the growth potential is INSANE. I was blown away when I started researching some of the numbers. While SOME have a modest income, statistics show there are over 20,000 people who have become millionaires from selling on Amazon. So, if you do your research, choose a proper product (again by doing research) and take advantage of the tools available, you will have a recipe for success.
There is a lot of free information available on Youtube and from other sources on how to start on Amazon business, BUT I definitely recommend joining a training program. If you’re going to invest your time and money into something like this and your serious about giving it an honest go, it’s definitely worth the investment to ensure you have all the most up to date training information available. Plus you surround yourself with other like minded individuals that are on the same journey and can present valuable input.
If this is something you are interested in, I would highly HIGHLY recommend the JUST ONE DIME PROGRAM. There are a lot of courses out there, but believe me when I say this is the best one. They are an INCREDIBLE group and provide ENORMOUS value. Go ahead and CLICK HERE to see my full review of their course.
This may sound scary because it seems complicated, but the world is your oyster. There has never been a better time to take advantage of all the knowledge available online. You can literally learn ANYTHING with a can do attitude and a few clicks of a button. I assure you, if I can learn to do this, so can you!
With this option you have the opportunity to work from literally anywhere in the world, as long as you have a strong internet connection. Who wouldn’t want to have the option to work while sitting next to a pool in a tropical locale. This is a real possibility with web design. According to Glassdoor.com web developers can make anywhere between 54K and 115K a year. This obviously varies due to specific skills and experience but nevertheless it’s a great option for those who want to work from home.
Social Media Manager
Do you like getting your social media on? Well guess what, there is a legitimate job for that! I know, I know, it’s almost too good to be true! There are specific skills that are needed and it’s more than just clicking LIKE, but there is a multitude of training courses available all over the web if you do your due diligence.
Skills that are required may be, planning and strategizing, community management, understanding SEO, creativity, good writing skills and understanding digital marketing trends. This may all sound over your head right now, but there is so much information out there that can be utilized to hone any digital skills you need.
To top it off, according to Salary.com , social media marketing managers can earn anywhere between 90k and 130k per year. When freelancing the hourly rate for newer candidates range from $15-$50 an hour and experienced managers can earn from $120,000 on up. Learning how to understand digital marketing trends sounds pretty darn appealing right now!
Do you have experience in the admin world? What if you could do this from the comfort of your own home? Guess what! You can! It is estimated that by 2023 there will be 8 BILLION virtual assistants in the world. Currently there’s 2.5 billion. Ponder that one for a second! That means the growth potential is unreal.
Virtual assisting duties can include but are not limited to; answering emails, administrative tasks, managing calendars, creating presentations, making appointments and booking travel accommodations. If you go the freelance route as a general assistant you can charge whatever you like, however the sweet spot seems to be around $15-30 an hour.
Now, if you have a specific area of expertise, such as social media marketing, graphic design or Pinterest strategist, then you have the option to charge anywhere from $40-$100 an hour based on your experience. The other benefit of this option is you are your own boss, and you can generally make your own schedule. And who wouldn’t love that!?
If you have previous teaching, business or math experience under your belt, this may be a great option for you. This opportunity provides flexibility to make your own schedule and provide learning support for students of all levels. There are no set in stone requirements but generally a background in the previously mentioned areas are preferred.
There are a variety of sites that offer job opportunities but tutor.com and chegg.com seem to be some of the more popular options. I was impressed that tutor.com has a partnership that connects military spouses with employment opportunities. I think this is a wonderful tribute to the military families out there!
It appears the average going rate for online tutors is around $46,000 as a yearly salary. But this seems to obviously depend on how many hours are dedicated to it. As a general rule the hourly pay seems to be around $20. Not too bad for not having to leave the comfort of your own home!
If numbers are your thing, you might consider being a virtual bookkeeper. This job is the same as a traditional bookkeeper, just with the opportunity to work remotely. The job of virtual bookkeepers can include; managing budgets, updating accounting charts, analyzing financial statements, recording receipts and processing payroll, just to name a few!
There are some online tools needed to perform these tasks so there is somewhat of an upfront cost, however it is relatively low. The pay can be around $18 – $50 an hour depending on whether you work for a company or work freelance. With the rise of E-commerce businesses online bookkeeping is going to do nothing but become more in demand. If you like numbers take advantage of this enormous growth potential.
If you’re a modern day Hemingway and you have a way with words, freelance writing might be the perfect hustle for you. This can coexist with your own blog if you choose, but you also have the opportunity to write for other companies looking for valuable content. Whether it be for a blogger who can’t keep up with the demand of their own site, companies looking for educational material, business owners looking for content for their websites, marketing or advertising campaigns and the list goes on.
Now, it’s not just grabbing a piece of paper and jotting down some words. There’s a little more involved, such as strong research skills, adaptability, good grammar and strong understanding of SEO. If these are skills you have or think you can learn then you should go for it!
There are numerous outlets to find work all over the world wide web or you can cold pitch, just make sure to have some writing samples on hand. There are usually deadlines that need to be met but as far as working out of the comfort of your own home, there is flexibility there. According to ziprecruiter.com the average salary for a freelance writer is $63,488 with room to grow. Of course this is dependant on how much you choose to take on and what valuable information you can provide. So if you like writing, I say there’s no time like the present to look further into this excellent opportunity.
Maybe writing isn’t your thing and art is more your cup of tea. You can start your very own freelance graphic design company and work from home. If you don’t have any prior experience with this but it is something you may be interested in, there’s a myriad of online training courses. Udemy.com is a great place to find some starter courses for a great price.
Rates for graphic designers vary but according to Upwork.com it can range from $20 tp $150 an hour with the average around $45. Not too shabby right!
So what exactly does a graphic designer do? They are responsible for creating visual communications that convey a message. Whether it be for a company logo, marketing, signs, brochures or books. They require excellent communication skills to understand what the client needs, and generally they will use digital programs like Photoshop and Adobe. This option may also require some deadline work and you must be somewhat computer savvy but nothing that can’t be learned. It’s certainly well worth it for the flexibility to work from home. So if you have an eye for detail and good communication skills this might be right for you!
I hope this article was helpful for your journey towards a virtual career. Working from home can provide flexibility for more time with family and friends and an opportunity to be your own boss. If this interests you, go for it! Remember, the sky’s the limit, and with a positive attitude and a self starter personality you can make all your digital dreams come true.
